Collaborative Organist & Accompanist (Part-Time)

Position: Part-Time Collaborative Organist & Accompanist (10–12 hrs/week)
Start Date: Summer 2026 (flexible; ideally by late August 2026)
Review Begins: July 15, 2026 (open until filled)

Position Summary
St. Luke Lutheran Church seeks a skilled, collaborative organist/keyboardist to support weekly worship,
choir accompaniment, and seasonal services. The role partners closely with the Director of Music
Ministries and pastoral staff to provide high-quality musical leadership across traditional and
contemporary worship.

The ideal candidate is a strong organist and pianist with excellent sight-reading skills,
experience accompanying choirs and congregations, and a flexible, team-oriented approach.

Primary Responsibilities
Worship Leadership
• Play organ and/or piano for Sunday services (Traditional 10:30–11:30 a.m.; Modern
9:15–10:00 a.m.)
• Prepare preludes, hymns, liturgical music, offertories, and postludes
• Collaborate on service planning and repertoire

Accompanying
• Rehearse and perform weekly with Rejoice Choir (Thursdays 7:30–9:00 p.m.)
• Support Modern Worship Team rehearsals (Thursdays 6:00–7:15 p.m.)
• Accompany soloists, ensembles, and guest musicians
• Participate in seasonal concerts and special events

Special Services
Ash Wednesday, Holy Week services, Advent/Christmas, midweek Lenten services, and
other festival services as scheduled

Additional Duties
• Coordinate scheduling with music staff
• Provide or arrange substitutes when needed
• Weddings and funerals available with additional compensation
• Occasional planning meetings

Qualifications
Required
• Proficiency in organ and piano
• Strong sight-reading and accompaniment skills
• Experience with choir and congregational accompaniment
• Collaborative and adaptable musical approach
Preferred
• Degree in music or equivalent experience
• Church music and liturgical experience
• Improvisation skills for hymn-based playing and transitions

Instruments
• 1967 Rodgers three-manual electric organ
• Steinway grand piano (sanctuary)
• Additional rehearsal and practice pianos throughout facility
• Harpsichord (choir loft)

Compensation
• $35–40/hour (DOE)
• Additional pay for weddings, funerals, and special services
• Annual Professional Enrichment Fund for continuing education and resources
